As an art educator I set up AMP because I realise how important conversations and deadlines are to help us lift our heads from the work and get the clarity, direction and the energy we need to carry on.
I know how an external conversation can give us this but we don’t always have the right people around who we can speak to freely, who get what we are trying to do and who has the time to sit and focus on just our work for an hour. I also know how motivating it is to have to show up for a meeting with someone and leave feeling like you know where to go next.
I am a dedicated practicing artist trained at Turps Art School, Royal Drawing School and University of the Arts, London. I have mentored and taught art since 2010.
Most recently I have taught adults who have completed foundation and intermediate painting courses with me and from there have decided to take their art practice seriously. I now guide them through this, supporting them with how to organise their work, how to find threads and where to go next. I help mentees learn from relevant artists and clarify what it is they are doing and why.
Whether you are starting out, reconnecting with your art or have committed to it fully, I can help you organise your thoughts and what is needed to go forward. I am an emotionally sensitive and supportive teacher who understands what goes into dedicating yourself to this work.

I thoroughly enjoyed Emma’s classes. The course in the museum taught me to look at art, and in fact at everything around me, in a completely new way. Emma’s in-depth knowledge of the different art movements and their interconnections, combined with her enthusiastic way of teaching, was a very pleasant surprise. Her love for art is clearly evident in her teaching.
The theoretical framework helped me to better understand a work of art and then translate that understanding into your own sketches. It was particularly rewarding to learn how to build a sketch: considering composition and line work, and how to use pencil or charcoal to get straight to the essence.
In addition to being educational and fun, the course was also simply a delightful way to visit a range of museums in Berlin.

Bio
I work predominately in painting and drawing. I trained at Royal Drawing School London and Turps Art School London. I have been teaching art to various levels since 2010. After graduating I ran drawing classes for the Royal Drawing School in various London museums including Whitechapel Gallery, The V&A Museum, The National Gallery, and Saatchi Gallery. I simultaneously set up and ran Root Drawing, an experimental drawing class for local artists. On residency in India I taught on the BA Fine Art Program and on my return to London taught further education courses at the Art Academy London. I have since developed my own practice in painting at the Turps Art School in London. For the last four years I ran the A level Art department at the Krishnamurti school- Brockwood Park in Hampshire, UK. I now continue my artistic practice in residence at Backsteinboot Berlin while tutoring at the Burnt Sienna Art School, Berlin. I have recently set up a Museums Drawing Course where I take students around all the state museums of Berlin covering both contextual art history and drawing skills.
